When I used an ehiem auto feeder I would make sure the time on it was in sync with my controller timer. Then the controller would shutdown the return pump a couple minutes before the feeder would feed and leave it off for around 15-30 minutes.
With the apex auto feeder it's even easier as the time is all in sync all the time being on the same controller. I have the apex programming setup to shutdown my return and skimmer, wait a minute, feed, wait 15 minutes, turn on the return, wait 2 minutes, turn on the skimmer.
mine is attached to the side of the tank via magnets and is not movable outside of ripping it off the tank wall and having it sink to the bottom, but I could see other rings that are more flexible being an issue.
No. I am a retired carpenter. About ten years ago I lost a beloved Lab due to food alleges. I did a lot of research into the pet food industry. One of the thing I found out is that feeding the same processed food to an animal is the worst thing you can do to that animals immune system. Look at salmon farming. They feed pellets to a fish in a confined space and then have to pump in antibiotics because the fish are always sick. Same as our tanks only a different scale.

The one I had stuck to the glass fine but the surface flow and agitation would push the pellets out under and some over as the ring would go up and down and get water over it. Sometimes even push completely under the water.
Also, to the OP and on the points of laga77 it's hard to find a really good pellet or flake. The best you can do is stay away from any that use meals, high ash, and high moisture content. Or don't feed pellets or flakes at all really is best. But they are convenient and ok for fish that have a high amount of feeding needs like Anthias.
ah yea, that could pose some issues. I do have a pretty "Tall" ring so even with the surface agitation it doesn't get high enough waves to let the pellets under the ring without sinking.
