what powerheads for my 75?

im going to be setting up my first sw tank and was wondering what powerheads and how many i should put in there?

also if any of you are selling your used ones let me know and ill see if im interested

If you want something small and quiet I recommend a tunze nanostream. I have 2 of their 6025 models in my 55g and its almost too much flow! Will be great for SPS later...

they clip on with a magnet- don't let your finger get between the magnet parts if you get one!!!! But i really enjoy these products for their quality as well as customer service in case anything goes wrong which it usually doesn't

you can't go wrong with the tunze nanostream or the tunze stream pumps. i have the stream 6060, and it's great. you may need a controllable stream pump, with a smaller tank.

the tunze generally are quiet, efficient, and move a lot of water.

how much are the nanostreams as im 18 and on a budget
also could anyone give me some tips on the placement of the powerheads? and how much overall gph should i have in my tank?is it possible to have to much?

I have the tunze as well but the seios work very well and are a cheaper alternative. For a 75 gallon, I would think about getting two seio 820's, but I guess it all depends on what you want to keep

all in all though any of the aboved mentioned will be fine for a 75 with softies...... even if the softies are "used"

Why not set up a closed loop? Then you don't need any powerheads....looks better, less hassle{they fall alot}, less heat.

really i havent read that,sounds pretty cool though

waterfaller1- im not sure but closed loops seem more expensive especially since i don have the equipmen or know how to drill holes in my tank,if im wrong about this,or even if im not, could you direct me to a site or thread that explains how its done?

get at least 2 if not 3 maxijet 1200 there cheap and reliable had good flow in my 55g tank corals did well

Let me see what I can find. You don't have to drill to do a closed loop. You can have a pvc draw tube over the back of the tank, and locline attached to PVC pipe for input. This way, you can have one pump running for the CL. You can do an external pump{less heat} . Do you plan on a sump with a protein skimmer? Internal or external return pump?

Well..at about 3 am this morning, I had 799 threads that had closed loop mentioned. I was going through and saving some, got booted , got ticked off...then went back to bed. You know unless you are a premium member, that's about the only time the search function works..at least for me. I can try again another night if you are still interested. Or, if you happen to be up at 3 am some night..LOL.
