What salt are you using?

Red Se regular since the beginning and always tests an avg of 7.9 alk and 400 ca give or take. Also sent out for the triton test and got some of the best results yet and shared those on many forums. In addition, I buy the 200g bag for $45-$50 locally.

D&D H2Ocean. I get some residue, but there seems to be no adverse reaction. I like the parameters out of the bucket - just have to add a bit of potassium. Plus it's easy to find.

could you send me info about the triton test. getting mixed results from page 1 where the person said that manganese was extremely high.

Tried reef crystals but the Alk was always way higher than I prefer (usually came out to 11).

Now I use instant ocean. Seems to work much better as the IO mag and Alk are perfect out of the bag, and then I simply buffer the Cal up to where I want it. Much cheaper too!

I had a near perfect triton test too with Red Sea blue bucket. Only 2 yellows, rest were green. My corals, especially acros, and birdsnest, looked like crap. Most of them died slowly over a month. Birdsnest never survived.

I used to use Red Sea blue bucket, but switched to IO after seeing a triton test on fresh mixed salt with rodi water. Maganese was 50x nsw levels and my tank showed symptoms consistent with that result. This was before the triton text review by rich Ross, however, things improved immediately after switching salts. I know that's only anecdotal but was my experience

Red Sea Coral Pro, before I started my tank I wanted to use Seachem but couldn't find it locally so decided that was a bad a idea. I don't see any residue with mixing.

I've used it for the last 1500+ gallons of salt changes. (10g every 5 days). I get the 200g box online with free shipping for 51 dollars. For me the parameters have always been consistent and I appreciate the lower KH. I doubt I will ever switch. I use Kalk to maintain my levels and the tank sits steady at 430/8.6/1320 with this salt. Mixes very clean and is ready to go after 4 hours with no brown film/precipitate.

I have used Red Sea Salt (regular), IO, Reef Crystal, D2D H2Ocean, Aquavitro Salinity. I like Salinity the most mainly due to the its water parameters, also like their bucket for easy access. However I do like how quickly red sea salt mix so I also keep a bucket for emergency.

Just switched from Instant Ocean to Brightwell salt. No difference in mixing other than the sulfur smell. However since doing a few water changes with this salt, my 2 frags I had of button polyps have opened up finally after I thought they were dead being closed for a month.

I started with Scripps NSW because it was free and local but now use Tropic Marin Pro.
