What salt do you use for SPS dominated tanks?

RBS or TM regular. If I had a calcium reactor then I would choose TM pro.

I've always wondered about this statement on needing a Calcium Reactor to use TM Pro. The Alk is on the lower side but still quite acceptable. 2-part dosing would appear just as acceptable to keep the alk in that 8ish range. I'm sure everyone can use it, no, or am I missing something?

instant ocean, i've used both D-D H2Ocean Pro+ & tropic marin pro, with minimal difference in my eyes.

no matter what you do, you will always need either a calcium reactor or a dosing system of some sort specially for an SPS system.

current system parameter CA=450, ALK=9, MAG=1500, PH=8.0 to 8.1, salinity 1.0250.

Lots of IO users. I wouldn't mind switching over to IO to save on $$. Any IO users have pictures of their sps, growth shots or full tank shots? I am currently using ESV because I love that I can mix it up and start my pwc all within 10-minutes. With a baby running around the house its nice to be able to get the brute trash can put away quickly.

I mix IO and RC 50/50.

Now that's a response I don't see often. Guess that covers both bases in case one is better than other. ;)

IO here BTW.

I have used several different salts over the last few years Hw Marine Mix, Hw Reefer, Coral Life, Tropic Marin Pro, Reef Crystals, IO Oceanic 50/50 mix, IO. The only salt I really saw a difference with the The Pro Reef, it is outstanding! I gave me great grown and color plus I hardly ever needed to dose anything. I currently use Reef Crystal because it is cheap, good quality, high mag alk and ca than IO, and I cant get Pro Reef locally any more. If I do find it I dont need salt at the time and it is over $100 for a bucket. Reef Crystals is around $50-60. If you can get Pro Reef use it.

I can't take credit for the idea, I think it was Randy that suggested that once upon a time. My tank seems to like it and it is easy to get.

I know how you feel as I too have a little one running around the house!!!

Anyways here some pictures of the corals, and here is the list for my tank you, can see the rest of the corals! http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1881861

Nice tank! Do you dose 2-part or use calc rx?

TY,

Not to pull thread in another direction,
I have 3.5 to 4 gallons per day evaporation on 225 gallon system allowing a Kalk reactor to put in limewater via make up and I'm dosing DIY 2 part calcium chloride AND baking soda.

Impressive. I think the 2-of you already proved, IO works. I may give it a try as an effort to cut costs. Of course there is WAY more to it than just saltmix, but if these type results can be achieved with a less expensive mix...why not. However, it is probably more complicated than that because the amount of Cal and Alk and Mg dosed may go up

I am new to the SPS scene but have been using oceanic and I must say I am extremely happy with it. The levels are excellent. Dissolves very quick too.
