What should I add to the tank?

I have a 100x70x70cm tank (39x27x27) with the following inhabitants:

1 Yellow tang
1 Kole tang
1 Sixliner wrasse
2 Ocellares clowns
2 Banggai cardinals
1 Yasha goby
1 Randall pistol shrimp
1 Fridmani pseudochromis
1 Flame angel
1 anenome crab
1 unidentified crab living inside my birdsnest coral

The tank looks a bit empty and I'm reading zero nitrate as long as I don't dose some KNO3 a few times a week.

What fish should I add? I thought about some Chromis but after reading some I get that it's not the best idea... :) I want something to add som colour and life to the tank and something that doesn't outgrow the tank in the longtime.

What about 3-4 Anthias? I feed 1-2 times a day, once with pellets and once with frozen. Squamipinnis maybe?

Open to all suggestions!

A 3ft tank is too small for a yellow tang. They need long tanks to swoop around in. It's going to get stressed as it grows, and it will begin to attack things.
The crab in your coral, if it's small, is probably an acropora crab. Harmless.

I will keep an eye on the yellow tang. If (when?) it starts to show signs of stress I'll sale or trade it in for a smaller one.
Yeah, probably a acropora crab. It just sits in the coral and tried to catch food.

No suggestions for new fishes?

Perhaps a chromis? Only one, though. Despite popular belief, green chromis are not schoolers and will in fact fight to the death.
Chalk bass?
3-4 anthias would work, yes.

The tang is nearing what appears to be maximum size for that tank. Since stress may very well manifest as the tang attacking other fish, possibly with its tail barb, I would recommend you remove it before such a thing happens.

Thanks for the tips!

Regarding Anthias, is the Squamipinnis a good choise for the tank?

When it comes to the yellow tang, as I said, I will keep an eye on it if it gets stressed. As of today it looks great and not stressed at all. And it's not a standard Juwel 39x18x18 tank we are talking about. The extra depth and height really adds some swimming areas.

Well if we look at it that way I would say most fish would prefer the ocean before our tanks....
If all I am going to get from this thread is whining about the yellow tang we can just close the thread right now. I care about the fishes and if I think that any of them aren't ok in tank I will sell or trade them.

You asked about adding another fish when you aren't properly supporting your current fish then whine when we point it out.. Lol.. Ok the.

+1

Firefish look neat or Cardinals

Agree with everyone here on the tangs, they are both juvi right now the tank won't look so empty once they grow, especially the yellow tang. If you want a school of something, I am i love with the blue eye cardinals, they are peaceful, hardy, and school in the upper water column to fill in space.

I see no reason to close this thread. The advice offered is good, and can benefit others looking for similar info in the future.

I've learned that people on this site will never stop asking about tangs. It's ridiculous, almost funny how predictable it is. I've asked questions about pumps or lighting, and invariably "How big is your tank?" "Your blue tang will have to be rehomed...." They will never stop.

Now to actually provide some advice that you asked for, my tank is about your size and I've really enjoyed keeping my melanarus wrasse. It's a beautiful fish that is always moving. He eats anything and hasn't bothered anyone. It even got my shy royal gramma to come out. I'd definitely add a wrasse. I also have a purple firefish that I like. He's a little shy but very pretty and chill. Good luck.
