What should I get for my first clam?

It will be going in a 90 gallon w/30 gallon sump. 2 x 250W MH and 2 x 54W T-5 Actinic.

I see all the different types but want to get the right one that will not outgrow the tank.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would think in that tank you can have any clam you want. I have a crocea in my 60G on the sand bed and I don't have MH's. I do have 440W of VHO and 260W of PC though.

Squamosa or Maxima would be my suggestion

I think Derasa would be the one to avoid if your worried about size

But the lower light larger clams like Squamosa and Derasa are more forgiving with light and water parameters. I would start with one of them.

I would get which ever one you find the most pleasing. You will have enough light for any of them.
