i have the same setup and it would pump the water out to fast, even with the return choked with a valve. I had to cut a tee and run a line back to the fuge and now so far seems ok.
Im just in my cycle mode and not running my skimmer and would like to add a TLF reactor in there as well. Im not sure if this will affect it anymore since im new to the whole sump/fuge thing.
But you will need to put some valves on your return line.
I have a 1 1/2 Glass holes 750 overflow and my return is a 3/4 line if this helps
IMO, a 1260 will be fine - and it will most likely be th4e last return pump you will ever need to buy. Mine is now well over 20 years old and going strong.
currently I have a 1250 return to my 65g and I need more flow. of course my sump sits under the stand for my fuge (beside the DT) so there is more head loss. I was thinking of getting a 1262, but now I'm wondering if a 1260 will work? Would the 1250 be too strong as return to my 30g fuge?
