I want to add add a closed loop for my 37g cube. It will ahve one drain line and 4 return holes. What size bulkheads should i be using? I was thinking about a 1 inch drain line and 1/2 inch returns since I will ahve 4 of those. I'm going to be using a mag 9.5 for the closed loop. I want to go to the store this afternoon and just can't decide. Anybody have any suggestions/adive please.

THanks
Janina

I would go bigger in the drain line. The smaller it is, the higher the force of suction, and you may have some creatures being pulled in to the drain. So going larger there would be less force being pulled in.

...ooops...

Thanks Paladin. I hadn't thought of that before. I decided to go with 2 1" drain lines and putting a screen infront of the intake. That should help reduce the suction.

A closed loop does not run through the sump. It just goes directly from the tank to the pump and back up to to the tank. It's like a canister filter without the filter media part.
