I got a mantis from a local reefer, it came in some LR he got. It is about 1.5" and green. I looked at all of Roy's list and I am guessing it is a N. Wennerae.

The hole it is in right now is only a little larger than the mantis. I wanted to put some PVC in for it to use as a burrow. What size should I use? It is a 10g tank w/ 2-3" of sand.

From what i understand you want the pvc diameter just big enough so the mantis can make a u-turn inside of it. I dont know if that helps.

the pvc should be big enough to let it do a u-turn but remember that they are surprisingly flexible. A pipe only a bit bigger than the width of its body should do perfectly. If it has a burrow in LR that it thinks is too small it will just make it bigger.

my peacock outgrew a 3" diameter PVC pipe at about 5"...or she at least abandoned it and prefered living above ground behind some rocks....it definately seemed as though she outgrew it and couldnt turn around anymore...
