what skimmer would you get no based on price

I have a smaller becket from geo. I like it but so far has been a P.I.T.A. to dial in. of course I haven't spent a lot of time as I have stuff to do around the house before the baby comes next month. Mine pulls out some thick nasty gunk. then a slight closing of the gate valve, 1/8 turn seemingly and I flood my fish room floor by morning

Do you have a needle valve on the beckett's air inlet? I always had the best luck (stable foam head) when the air draw was restricted.

Based on some good input I have received I don't think the geo is for me thought I like his products and will happily use my geo reactors. Thank you guys for the messages and info.

No. When i bought the skimmer second hand it came with one of those plastic quick disconnect jobbers. Also, i even when I turn the air off completely on it, it is still producing bubbles and you can hear it sucking air. So I cannot get alot of control out of it at the moment. I am guessing a seal. When i redo my plumbing in the next week or so I am really going to give it a once over.
