What temp do you guys keep your tank in the winter?
I've been keeping my temps in the range of 75-76 during the winter but when I stabilize my water parameters I want to increase the temps to 78-79 degrees for better and faster coral growth.

Funny thing is that I set my Apex to 78-79, then checking the graphs only to see the temps was dropping after it reached the max temp of 77. Turns out the heaters I have in the sump were set no higher then 77!

I run 80-80.5 in the winter, and 77-78 in the summer.

My logic behind this is 1) gives you a couple degrees in favor of the desired temp in-case of a power outage; 2) i figure the ocean must shift a couple degrees according to season.

Sounds good Justin!

Have the Apex set to turn the heaters on at 75.8 and off at 76.2

Hey Joe, I like the lower temps as it keeps certain pest, algae, and less metabolic activity (poop) in check. But on the other end I want to kick start my reef, right now its just a bunch of rocks. :D

I aim for 78 throughout the year.

I also just got the answer to my question on your other thread i..e it will not be a fowlr
