Why is pairing so hard?

I tried two. They were fine for weeks, then one killed the other in 2 days.

OK... I added the lone one to the DT. Then I added 3 more to the DT. The 3 hung out together for a few weeks, now one is trying to kill the other 3 (2 new and one old). Do I really have just such bad luck that I got all one sex all 5 times?

Sounds as though the fish Gods don't want you to have a golden head sleeper pair in your tank. With 5 different ones, I would think that your chance for at least 1 female would be high

It's because you want it so bad, so naturally it won't happen... At least that's how it always works for me
