What The Heck Is This (pics)

I have no idea, but if I'm remembering correctly, Mike Paletta gave a talk and discussed doing this. It involved keeping the shrimp in a small tank with plenty of Asterina stars, and waiting for them to get hungry.

This thread seemed perfect for my question as well....

I have a bunch of these growing all over my live rock. I have noticed them growing for a while and didn't think too much of it but in the last couple of weeks they seem to shoot a hair-like thread out of the tops at different times of the day. When they all do this the tank starts to get cloudy.

Can anyone tell me what this is and how to get rid of it. Thanks!

mc_miller: thats a Vermetid snail. they are pretty much harmless. they may annoy a coral if they grow real close to them. some people will remove them because they can be unsightly when they all spit out their mucous "net" when they are feeding. i will remove them if they are bothering a coral other wise they are good filter feeders. heres an article

Thanks a bunch. That is exactly what they are. I gues I will go in and thin them out as it seems the best way to get rid of them. I cant stand the nets they release into the water. Thanks again!
