I know you thought you were doing what was best for the bat. I guess I would have let it dry and put it outside. It would find a new hole to crawl into somewhere.
They tend to winter in atics sometimes so it isn't uncommon to have one get in the house. He probably felt the warmth of the light and crawled through the hole and fell in the water.
