What to add with aggressive Kole tang?

I have a 90 gallon mixed reef with a Kole tang, Flame angel, purple Fire fish, fairy wrasse, and a long nose hawk. The Kole tang has definitely declared himself king.

What types of fish can I add that won't get completely hounded to death? I want to add a scooter dragonet. Will that work? What else should I look at?

I was surprised by the kole tang as he was kiddish for a long time. However once I added the flame angel, he grew into his own.

The best choice is often a fish that looks as little like the bully as possible. Ie, flat like a plate would be more likely to provoke aggression. The flame, which is flat and grazes rocks, probably annoys him on two grounds. The scooter might be safe if you have a fuge with pods.

Hope he doesn't mistake the Scooter for a Blenny, Koles hate those.

Thanks everyone. I haven't made any addition but the Fairy Wrasse was a recent addition and the combination of the Fairy Wrasse, the Tang, and the angel seem to have found their equilibrium. The tang still tells everybody to stay out of his way but he is not chasing everybody around the aquarium.

I had a kole tang that thought he was king. I added a foxface rabbitfish that stung him the first time he tried anything. The kole tang is nice to everyone now that he thinks he could be taught another lesson like that

My Kole primarily has issues with my Tailspot Blenny. He'll chase him across the tank every now and then, but nothing ever comes of it. The blenny was in the tank for over a year before the Kole was added, so he's pretty confident. Sometimes I feel like the blenny taunts the Kole. :)

For some bizarro reason, my Kole also has issues with my Royal Gramma and will chase him into his cave every now and then. I'm not sure what that is all about, so I guess the Kole is just a jerk. :)

When I had a kole it only liked my melanurus wrasse. The tang would follow th wrasse all day long. Ended up removing it because of it being aggressive.

So your flame doesn't bother any corals or anything? I had a model citizen flame a few years back and miss it so much. Haven't had luck with any other dwarf angel since. I've even had to tear down tank to get a bicolor out that was eating EVERYTHING lol

Sorry that I have been away.

Hoopz87 - so far I have been pretty lucky with this Flame. He does graze all day and will occasionally pick at my monti's. But he quickly realizes that there is no algae there and just moves on. Thus far it hasn't bothered the monti's.

Also, for the Kole Tang, I guess his reign as king was short lived because about 3 weeks after all the fish were in and comfortable, the Angel and the Fairy Wrasse both asserted themselves and now all three are of equal standing. The purple firefish hides a lot but I think that is his natural behavior. (tunnel under the rock so that he can flee at a moments notice)
