What to do with acros and sps with move

So after my landlord deciding to sell his place I must move:thumbdown..all params are good acros taking off and all coral thriving..
My question is I'll be tearing down my tank in a couple weeks pulling all corals out and most of the rock. I might have to do this twice because I.might have to temporarily stay with my inlaws for a couple weeks till I find a place..I'm not too worried for my soft coral but acros I am I know they can turn on you.quick..I'll be using about 75% of my old tank water to keep it as stable as possible..what you guys think?

My plan is to place them in a large Rubbermaid stock tank with a few LR for filtration, a heater and powerheads. This will keep them happy for a few days, if longer you just need to add some lighting.

Thanks for the response..I'll actually be able to temporarily Set up my tank at my inlaws was just worried that maybe I'll have all type of swings, so was debating on getting rid of my acros but if you think I have a chance I'll risk it because I really want to keep my corals..Thanks

Expect some issues, sps frags from breaking, and stressed out corals. Color will be effected ect. You may have a mini cycle. I have moved a few tanks and I cant remember any major issues. If you can, see if a local reefer will hold your corals for you until you can get the tank running again in a more permanent location, this woule be best if its going to be a few weeks. Keep the rock wet with pumps and a heater. I would get new sand but you dont need to. Good time for some tank clean up, removing any unwated fish or corals and make changes to plumbing and sump if you want to.

Thanks for the advice deserreef and heads up on what to expect.all my sps and acros are just frags that are staying to take off but I'm assuming will get stressed out..I guess I'll expect for the worst and hope for the best.
I actually know a local reefer friend that said would coralsit them if I ever needed but it's a drive.
I'll be setting the tank up the tank twice so all rock will be
Under water, just need to pick up a heater because I don't currently use one. Oh yea will def think about fish and corals that I'll be keeping..Thanks again

Use a cooler to keep the temperature steady. Fill it with warm water first so the cold plastic won't drop the temp. Use new sand or go bare bottom until you move it permanently. Run some carbon and filter socks or polyfil to remove the particles in the water and remove anything the stressed corals release.

I have a friend move and I have moved and setup a temporary setup. It didn't go well. Wont you be moving coral to a brand new setup? Even with seeded rock, sand you will get alk swings, etc. In the end you are better off selling livestock and starting over. Just my opinion.

You have to accept the fact that things are going to die. If nothing dies, you are either very lucky or very thorough and detail oriented and most here would applaud you for that!

I just moved my set up to our new house 9 miles away. I used most of the old water and all of the live rock. Had a few RTN on me but not many and several STNd a little but now have stabilized and a bunch look ****ed off but should be fine.

Thanks everyone for sharing past experiences, so far not looking good but still debating on keeping them. Nothing really special or high end but we'll see.
I will be keeping my setup and keeping sandbed, thinking about leaving 10/20% of water in the tank and transfer.
In the other hand I might just trade it all in, I guess we'll see what my gut tells me.

Dont give up or part with the system. Take the time and make the drive to your reef friends house and have him care for the corals since you do ha e that option. Also dont let any potential losses or issues scare you, if all part of it. Tanks get broken down, moved, live stock transfered ect all the time. Follow our suggestions to keep things going and take it a day at a time. Moving a tank is not the end of the world.
