What to do?

I have a 75 fowler tank with a Tusk, Marine betta, snowflake moray, a large Fuzzy dwarf lionfish, poropine puffer, a foxface and a small grouper. My problem is I cant put a CUC in it because it will get eaten. A sea urchin was mentioned, but I was then told it would be food for the Tusk. Any ideas of what I could put in it to keep it clean? Today I had to take out the rocks and scrap them clean. Im using i mechanical filter right now. Will a skimmer help?

A skimmer will most definitely help. I would also recommend a lights out period for 4 days to a week when you see algae starting to build up.

Thanks Ill put up a skimmer(i got one lying around somewhere lol) But the algae isnt the problem really It just gets amess. The tusk and puffer are very sloppy eaters and the rest of them will only eat fresh food(picky huh) Think a serpent star would be dinner? Maybe a tang(might fight with the tusk?)

That's a lotta fish for your 75g, are they all very small? Your problems will only worsen as those fish get bigger, that size tank can't comfortably support that stock. Tusks, Groupers, & the Porc Puffer need to be in 100g+ systems. You're really setting yourself up for a disaster, I would either get a bigger tank or take fish out to lessen the bio load.

Just my honest two cents. If your'e growing them out in there, I guess it could work while they're small but def not when they get larger.

Sorry I obviously didn't read the first post as well as I should have. I second joes comment. As for messiness more flow to keep waste stirred up so it can be captured by the filter will go a long way. That tank is for sure overstocked now or in the near future though. I would clear out the tusk, grouper and puffer.

you could also try putting in a sump/refugium if you don't have one to help export nutrients. this is a common issue with "aggressive" tanks. no matter what you put in there, something will eat it.

I hope to upgrade my 120 reef to a 180 and to put my fowler in my 120 as my Christmas present. Everything is still pretty small now. 3" puffer, 5"tusk, 2-3" grouper, 10" snowflake, 4"dwarf lionfish, 3" foxface. Im using a korilia 4 in the tank. Think I need another head?

Got it, yeah I was supposing they were small, wasn't trying to be a killjoy with the stock tips or nothin. Moving to a 180g would def be good, may even get cramped when they get really big though :).

I would def get another powerhead in there to really mix that current up.

Is your Tusk an Australian or Indo? I just got a tiny Indo that I am currently keeping in my 55g reef as I love Tusks and had never seen one that small. I know he will outgrow it but am upgrading when I move to a larger tank. So far he's been great, eating, hopefully he wasn't cyanide harvested and will survive.

You know, I didnt even think of asking whether the tusk was a ausi or indo. Are the markings on them so I can identify it?

I'm pretty sure yours is an Indo, the tail looks all white. Aussies have red lining the end of their tail + they have a lot more blue coloration than Indo's. Aussies are a lot more $ too.

Here's a pic that shows the difference:
