What to feed clowns

I bought 2 baby ocellaris clowns 2 weeks ago, the first 2 fish in my 55gal. So far I'm feeding them just frozen brine shrimp and mysis shrimp with a vitamin supplement once a day. They are loving it. I have some clown flake food but haven't tried it yet. Am I OK with just the 2 shrimp or is there something else I should be feeding them.

You can also get some pellet food. Formual one and two from Ocean Nutrition.

The vitamin suppliment shouldnt be used every day, unless it says on the bottle.

I have a few dif manuf, and Selcon says few times a week.
i would think the fish may get too used to the flavor and not eat on days you dont use it, IMO.

I feed my clowns (and whole tank) Frozen krill, VHP, brine, brine w/ spirulina, cyclopeeze and some others.
I do about 50-70% frozen and the rest pellet.

Skip the brine shrimp (very little nutrient content). Fortunately, clowns are not picky, so you should be able to feed them a variety of food. Frozen mysis is great. I make my own frozen mix by blending squid, shrimp, scallops, clams, cyclopeeze, and whatever other frozen foods I have handy, along with selcon and a little nori.

If you're not up for that, just feed them a variety of frozen foods. As a staple, I recommend New Life Spectrum pellets. All my fish love them.

My 2 ocells will eat about anything, mysis, prime reef flakes, NLS Thera+A pellets, formula one frozen, rods food. I'm not sure if they pick at the nori but I do have some in there about 3-4 times a week for my coral beauty. They aren't picky at all at eat like pigs. :)

My clown pair eat well too, I try to vary their diet by mixing, matching randomly. I also have a Midas Blenny that eats the same stuff. Any leftovers go to the CUC and cleaner shrimp, and sand sifter star.

Hikari Marine (carnivore) -Frozen
Hikari Marine Algae -Frozen
Mysis -Frozen
Formula 2 -Frozen
Formula 1 -Flake
Spirulina -Flake
Cyclopeeze -Flake
Formula 2 -Pellet
Hikari Brine w/spirulina -Freeze Dry

I haven't added any vitamin additives, but do have Garlic Xtreme. I rarely add that. Truthfully.. for the cost.. I'm not sure it does anything at all. You can call me skeptical.

The clowns eat just about anything. The Midas is more picky. Prefers frozen, but being such a huge pig, he'll eat flake. Once he sees the clowns pigging out and he gets into a jealous rage. ;P I probably feed too much. Pretty sure of that. But the fish are fat, happy, and have colored up immensely. I typically do 2x a day. Vary between frozen 2x, to frozen 1x and mix dry 1x. Depends on my mood, and what I happen to throw together.

When I am away for a few days or longer. I mix the various dry foods in the feeder. They do great. When I return they ravage the frozen food, so I'll only feed frozen for a few days to 'make up' for being away.

lol Brine shrimp are high on protein, low on fat. That's why they are considered not so good, too much protein.
Mysis or Daphnia are going to be the same, also protein rich foods. Now stuff you buy may be enriched and has varying moisture percentages. But dry weight is like close to 50% protein for all three. Donno about amino acid distribution. Might be different. But ideally you want to feed a varying diet anyway.

People just read stuff and create myths out of thin air.
