What to feed dendrophyllia?

I have been feeding my 2 colonies of dendros mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. Over the 2 years of keeping, I have noticed the change from orange to yellow. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem. If so, what can I do or try to feed to keep them as happy as they were when I purchaced them!

All of the body. It has slowly changed from orange to yellow. They eat at least once a day, up to 3 times. They have grown and stay open most of the day along with the sun polyps.

I know what you mean. I feed mine pemysis and cyclopeeze very heavy. They have grown new heads and seem healthy and happy but the color has changed.

When i 1st got them, they were much more orange and now are more yellow. The lighting is a little different but you can clearly see the difference from when i got them until now, not nearly as bright orange.

That is exactly how mine started and look like now. I wonder if anyone else has had the same thing, and if so, what they use to feed?I know alot of people have them but were they able to keep them the bright orange color? If anyone has been able to please let me know so I can bring them back to their beautiful color!!

Mine went from a bright orange to yellow as well. I feed it PE and ocean nutrition prime reef cubes

I don't know if this is relevant or not. Mine keeps the same color; however, I have it in the sump where there is no light. Been feeding it mysis shrimps, cyclopeeze, formula 1 + II. Basically, the food I feed my corals and fishes mixed together in a bowl.

Side note for Chris (143gadgets): I am thinking of getting the Nikon D40 tomorrow (can't afford the D300. That's insane). Can I use my lenses from the Nikon N70 on this D40 body? TIA.

You guys are bleaching it with to much light imo.

Try sticking it under an over hang that might help

good luck

very nice dendros, have a question, do they stay open during the day time? I still have not been able to get mine to open during the day time, I have them for a little over a year and I just put them in the sump on a reverse schedule and see what happens, they are opening more when the lights are on, also a lot easier to feed them. Mine still orange with yellow mouth.

Thats not ture in my case. My dendros are on the bottom of my tank which is 3' 1/2 feet from my lights, and they are slightly under an overhang.

Mine were on the bottom, in a shaded area and still changed color. I moved them about a month ago and now they are about 2 inches off the bottom and under the light but their color hasnt changed any since the move.

One of the colonies are on the bottom out of light and another one is about 6" off the bottom and the last one is 8" from the top. All of them are the same color. I think it might need other food but I don't know what!

I have had mine and they are a nice orange color i had them for about a year, i feed Mysis mixed with cyclops and coral frenzy. I also keep mine in a small daughter tank with regular 50/50 fluorescents. (30 some watts each)

Does anyone else have any info on the dendros? I would really like to feed them what they need to stay the color they were.

i just got mine but i have it close to the top under a slight overhang. i feed mine mysis, artemia, cyclopeeze, krill, scallop, shrimp, and squid. i chop it all up and feed and they love it. i feed 4-5 times a day.

They must really be happy to eat that much!! I guess I could try to feed more than I do to see if that brings back the color!!

mine are always opened and almost never close! i just got it a few days ago and i already see little heads starting to grow!
