I went to the aquarium store and saw this little guy but forgot to ask the aquarium helper about it. What type of fish is he and would he be good in a reef tank?

Looks like a green mandarin. Reef safe but need an established tank with plenty of pods for food

It is a Target or Spotted Dragonet. It basically only eat live food, pods in a mature tank. Tank need to be big enough to support him and the tank need to be void of food competitor. Hard to say how big becasue it really depends on the condition, maturity how it is run but an average of about 50 gal of a usually run reef tank should support him (without other fish that eats pods too)

They will ultimately pick up that frozen mysis and brine shrimp can be eaten, but they will always be very slow eaters and other fish will often snap their bites away while they are still making up their minds whether to eat it or not.
Tank size may not matter as much as the size of the attached refugium which should be as large as possible. And a refugium is pretty much a must with these fish, regardless how big your tank is.
