What type of flow for 120

I have a standard 120 (48x24x24) I running a sump in the basement with a quiet one. What type of powerheads would you go with? If i went with a Koralia which models?

I have 36" long and 2 Koralia-3. It gives me plenty of flow throughout tank no dead spot.
I will recommend 2/3 Koralia-4 for your setup.

Tunze or vortech. I have upgraded multiple times, I should have listened to others advice and did it right the first time. The nano stream 6025's are great little pumps for about 60$ and hold their resale value.

I agree with austin.... You will eventually get there any way. Koralias are nice but Vortech and Tunze are amazing.

I've been using 2x K4s on my 120. I also recently added a K1 on the other side to help a particular hard coral because my loc-line sticks out so far, but a lot of it is going to depend on what your setup is like.

r u going to keep lps, sps, fish only? it all depends. I have a 120 and I jst bought a vortech, $420 is a lot of money for a powerhead but its amazing. a must for sps.

the preferred rate of flow is 20-40 times the tank vol in gph

For the 120 gal then 2400-4800gph

Three k4's would put you right in the middle at 3600 gph.

my setup is a huge rock wall that takes up 3/4th of the back wall of the tank. I'm going to do sps and some lps. If i went the vortech option would you mount on the side? The korlia's you all are running, are you using the controllable options?

I would stick the vortec on the side as you described, but maybe someone with more experience with the vortecs can provide some input.

My koralias are not the controllable type and I don't have a timer or wave maker on them.

I have had one Vortech on the side of my 120 and the flow is amazing!!! I have another one coming back from repair and having two is twice as amazing!
