Loyalty to salt brands is always a contentious issue. But since we are on the topic, I I have always been happy with Tropic Marin's products and they have produced some great results for me and other hobbyists I know who use them.

well thats good to know, iv been using nsw and it has high phosphates so i decided to buy some salts and just a couple days of looking over threads and reviews i decided between tm and io, and decided to go with tm cause its easier to get for me. hopefully this brings down po4

Has anyone tried the new Kent Reef Salt? It just came out in December. It is supposed to have a very high level of Ca and Mag.

I currently use IO, in the past I used hW and liked it. I used to use ReefCrystals but ran into some issues years ago. For this tank I've been using IO, however started up on NSW. I really haven't seen any compelling reason to go for any other salt. I keep my alk @ 8, my Calc @ 440, and my mag around 1400. I haven't buffed a single water change, and haven't had any issues keeping these parameters. (when there weren't external factors, ie Kalk issues, or adjusting my top off.)

Tropic Marin bio-actif for me only cause it was on sale. Other than that I'm always been happy with TM pro reef. I have used red sea coral pro as well with no complaints.

I switched to Reef Crystals 2 years ago. Since then I took a behind the scenes tour of Sea World's marine and reef tanks in Orlando and saw a pallet of Reef Crystals. It made me a little warm and fuzzy inside. :)

I actually used Tropic Marin Pro reef for about 6 months and switch to reef crystals because you can usually find it for about $48 fo the 200g box.

I am happy I did because my sps and zoas both started growing better and had more color. I have purple Hornets that turned a pale (Almost see thru color) now they are a bright purple.

Of course there is always that NOT SURE IF ANYTHING CHANGED factor!!!!

I used red sea coral pro and switched to reef crystals....then had major problems...so I went back to red sea coral pro.

I have used Tropic marine pro reef for years, LOVE the salt.

lately I started getting buckets and the salt was turned hard ! so I changed to KZ reefers best salt, Pricey, but I think its worth it, done 3 water changes with it so far, and I get much better results with it. but not that far from TMPR.

I use those for my SPS reef which is ULNS,

all other set ups I have use IO salt, the best salt to price ratio, and it is indeed a good salt !

I have used reef crystals for several years and TM Pro Reef, but will be transitioning to KZ Reefer's Best as I am going to be running ULNS with Zeovit. I need to get my Alk closer to NSW.

with tm salt or pro reef, is there much difference between the two, is it worth paying the extra $30 cause i live in australia and its a bit more expensive, just wondering if it would be with the extra $$
