!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!
What type of seahorse should i get? it will be my first two seahorses. Also could you tell me how big of a tank i need for a pair of the seahorse breed you suggest?

Thanks,
John krause

You should get captive bred seahorses. Getting a captive bred seahorse from a place like seahorse source will give you the best head start you can get.

After that it is a matter of preference.

Most horses do will do fine in a 29g or larger system. I have had reidi breed in an 18g before. Depends a bit on the species of horse you choose.

Erectus have the rep of being the easiest fry to raise, but all seahorse fry is very hard to raise successfully IME.

The bigger the tank, the better.

There is a minimum recommended size, but not maximum, that is because, the bigger the better.

When starting out, its important to do things right, and with a big tank, you will be far more capable of keeping a stable environment than in a small tank, small tanks are a lot more work that large tanks.

Also, seahorses do love room to play, and in a big tank, you can add lots of interesting things for the seahorses to explore and hunt, meaning, far more activity, and so, more fun for you.

Captive bred from the likes of Dan (seahorsesource) is very high on the list of priorities.

Sounds like a very nice system. The horses will appreciate the added height of the hex, as well as the dilution of the sump.
