What type of xenid is this?

Hi all,

I bought a sympodium coral a while ago and at the bottom of it was a small xenia like coral. It's very short and tufty and has small tentacles, but it's the same colour as red sea xenia. It doesn't however pulse and the polyps are partially closed all the time like small fists and not held out open like xenia or sympodium. Any idea what type of xenia it is?

It's the one in the bottom/middle of this picture. There is some regular red sea xenia polyps at the bottom of the picture to show how small this xenia is in comparison.

When I first got it, I thought it was just a dying red sea xenia, on it's way out. But it's actually doing well the colony has more than quadrupled in size. Unlike xenia, the polyps on this nearly completely retract at night and a bumpy pink surface is left, in a very similar way to how the sympodium next to it closes up at night.

Here's a picture with a better camera. Looking at the detail of the polyps, perhaps it's a different variety of sympodium, has the same sort of bumps on each tentacles...?

Thanks :) I can't seem to find anything similar to it other than perhaps being related to sympodium, but all sympodiums I can find online are variations of blues and greens.

The tentacles look a little thicker and not pointy like the other xenia. It almost looks like some kind of star polyp but I really have no idea. Very pretty, though.
