What was your 1st ever fish

Getting my 1st fish not sure what to get.Thinking 3 or 4 chromis.What did you get first?

Me too. I put one in a 29 gallon ten years ago. Petco didn't think it was a bad idea. I still put the blame on myself. My whole first year in the hobby was lacking in research and a total disaster. The hobby has been a lot more fun with a better understanding.

OP, I would reconsider putting a group of chromis as your first fish. They don't have a very good record in groups, although some have been successful.

two perculas here. Male decided to jump into the overflow with bioballs...consequently I learned to get rid of the bioballs and cover the overflow. The female is still here 6 years later and sleeps in giant cup mushrooms.

Since 3-4 chromis getting along together in the same tank is not typical, you ight want to consider either a single chromis or a couple of juveniles (or a juvenile and a large one).

My first fish were 5 assorted damsels that the LFS told me I had to buy to cycle the tank
