as it says..i have always had a healthy amount of pods in my tank that can bee seen at lights off...but the last couple days i have noticed an explosion in population..like bad enough the light almost doesnt hit the bottom of the tank today...there are billions of the little guys..i think my 20 galllon could support about 15 mandarin gobies right now..

only thing i have changed is getting the water parameters a little closer to acceptable levels..

IE calcium 200ish back up to 400
alk from 8 up to 11
ammon is zero
as is nitrite and nitrate
and i have a refractomoeter and have verified that my SG is 1.025
my ph is 8.1
and my temp is 79*

Lack of predation and enough food are prerequisites for a good population growth. Some animals exhibit cyclic life cycles, meaning you'll one day have a huge explosion that will slowly fall, only to repeat itself in a given time frame.

hmmm...my green chromis seems to like the taste of pods and has always kept them in check...just my glass is covered in them today..

wow if this explosion keeps up i will have to invest in a mandarin or something this is getting out of hand...

sunlight hits my tank for about 15-20 minutes every morning at about 7:30...just the way the light hit today and the pods were doin it all over the glass i couldnt see into my tank...just a white haze...

used my mag float to knock them off the glass and my fish just stood there with perplexed looks on their faces like great know we have to deal with this mess..i just hope one of them decides they are hungry enough to eat them..LOL...i guess if i dont feed the fish for a day or two they will start to hammer down on them eh?

no more room in my tank for fish...at least not until i get rid of the chromis...then i can get my purple fire fish...or strawberry dotty back...not sure which yet...niether i think are real pod eaters though..

it has been nearly a week and the population seems to have diminished on its own...either they are in the sump, eaten or dead...i dont care i can see my zoa's again..

LOL not sure if i can get rid of the chromis yet though my female clown seems to be quite taken by him...
