What would you do?

I have 260watts of pc's and I have a chance to buy a couple of JBJ 150w K2 Vipers really cheap. I would like to add some more lighting and I could clamp these on behind my pc's and angle them over the pc fixture. That way I would still have my actinics and more intense light. Another option I was thinking about was getting a Catalina T5 HO 6 bulb fixture and then just selling my pc's. What would you do?

I wonder if you could get it without the bulbs for less? The balast are 5 year warranty. I emailed seller and he said that they are made by Workhorse assemblies.

This fixture kind of looks like a Tek. The bulbs that come with it are probably nothing special. It says that it has individual reflectors. Has anybody had any experience with it?

Fans are nice but Tek dont have fans and they are still vary good fixtures

Teks are nice fixtures, as they have good reflectors, however if you remove (or don't add) the splash shield and add some cooling they perform even better; reportedly a 20-25% performance gain; cooling does make a difference.
You can simply add some clip-on fans to the back of your tank and direct them at the fixture (not the bulbs), and away you go.

I agree divewsharks. Fans are a nice feature on any fixture. All I was saying is I would not disregard the fixture just because it does not have fans.

Since it is a workhorse assembly I would think it would be ok. If the reflectors are not not up to par you could always replace them.

I wonder if anybody has done para readings on that fixture.

sorry I was intending to agree with you, Teks are a quite good fixture even without cooling, cooling them just makes them better and wouldn't cost much. I'd pick the Tek over some fixtures that do offer cooling like the NEP.

It does look very similar to the sun blaze. For the money would it be worth the risk going with the workhorse assemblies?

sunblaze is a good fixture. for 220 for a 8 bulb how can u go wrong

i've haven't used one myself, but from what i hear the reflectors aren't very good. and if they aren't very good, whats the point??

with the cream ur saving on that u can go buy HelloLights slr reflectors for 18 bucks a pop, at under 200 bucks. there u got a beautiful fixture for 420.

honestly. slr reflectors are the way to go. but having A reflector, makes a BIG differance over not having one. and the improvement over a reflector vs. none is bigger than the improvement on slrs vs. one reflector

bjhubb Just wondering if you ended up purchasing the ebay fixture with the workhorse ballist. If you did what do you think of it.

No I have not bought this fixture yet. I have been doing a little more research to make sure that is the route that I want to go. I have the bulb configuration figured out but just haven't pulled the trigger.

I forgot to say that Sdime0 has had this fixture for about 3 months and likes it so far. We have discussed it in another thread called "Should I get these ebay lights" started by Ren99. I just bumped that thread for you to make it easier to find.
