The owner of my LFS told me that an algae blenny (lawnmower) would do fine in my nano, and i even said "well, i would only be able to keep him in there for a couple weeks, maybe months tops until i have to take him out" and he said"naw, he'll be fine". I have owned an algae blenny before and he was like 5", not at all ok for my 5 1/2 gallon nano AT ALL! am i crazy, or is he? or is he right? i am going to get a sixline wrasse for my tank, that is good, and ok, right

Take everything that a LFS owner tells you with a large grain of salt. Remember that a lot of times all that they are looking for is the sale, and thats it. You should stick with your instincts on this one and stay away from a lawnmower blenny in that 5.5. A sixline, in my opinion, would also probably be too big for that tank. They are big swimmers, like most wrasses.

A neon goby or two would do great. Maybe a firefish (need a tight lid for these guys though). 6line would hate it, same with most(can't say for all) blennies.

ok , what do you think about a Barbershop SHimp-Goby? and wouldnt a firefish be too big aswell? i would love to get one if that would be ok in my tank, i cant wiat to get a fish for the tank, i already baught a clown goby, but cannot find him anywhere in the tank, im starting to wonder if he jumped.....

I agree with Craig...not many fish could go into a 5 gallon. A neon goby or a red head goby would probably be your best bet. The "Barbershop" goby is a major jumper...probably wouldn't do well at all.

I looked the red-head p and one site said " The Red Headed Goby prefers a tank of at least 60 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim."

I know alot of places are wrong, but WOULD that be ok in my 5 1/2 gallon? it is an awesome looking fish, i would love to get one, but i dont want to if it will not be happy

That's why my nano is my mantis tank. I can still keep corals, but clenup crew and fish would not fare well. My mantis seems to be quite happy in his little enclosure...maybe a pistol shrimp goby combo, but make sure there's a lot of sand if you do that and make sure the goby will stay small, none of the 4+" gobies will be happy with that size.
