Whats going on with my Monti Cap?

That does indeed seem low; however, I'm not quite sure what the effects of low mag are on a system? If you have the means, maybe a triton text could reveal more? Just a thought.

I don't think he needs to spend 50$ on a test. that money could be spend on better things for his tank.

You are obviously entitled to your opinion; however, the triton test is a very inexpensive way of troubleshooting a problem that has no no apparent cause.

Huh, I dunno why I end up taking Magnesium for granted.
But it had dropped down to 1120 ppm after water change, probably even lower before.
Actually that's not entirely true, i know why... magnesium is consumed at a slightly lower rate and the test kit is a pain in the butt to use! Flimsy excuse I know.
So I guess first order of business is restoring Mag levels.

Yeah man, I over looked mag when I had my tank crash. It was LOW. Mine was at about 1100 too after a water change and so who knows how low it was before that. Luckily after I brought mag up, everything came back very well. I literally watched my lps melt before my eyes and I never bothered to check mag. Stupid mistake. I hope yours will recover.

Now I think about it, my monties may have looked like that before my crash...

I'd say there's a marked improvement after the water change, and I started raising my magnesium levels as well.

Looking a teensy bit better every day.
If I had to guess the coralline in my tank is really soaking up mag like crazy, look's like I'm not going to get away with manually dosing it.

Todays readings:

Alk: 9.0 Dkh
Ca: 420 ppm
Mag: 1200 ppm

Yup. I feel many of us forget basic water chemistry. We probably take mag for granted
