What's in Arizona Water??

TDS meter says 0 but when I check in brute can always read 10 to 17 on hand held meter

Has anyone done a test recently of AZ water. I'm running well over 600 ppm TDS on the input side of my RO/DI. In NY, we ran around 200 ppm. Just curious I guess.
+1 on the water softener - it helps a lot. I moved from southern California and was shocked at the tds. I was originally in Goodyear (west) and had to use a booster pump and run my system slightly over recommended pressure to save me from running through a di cartridge twice a month. A lot better since I moved to Gilbert but I still make sure to backwash for 15 mins before running water through the di.

If you are going through DI that fast you might want to get a better membrane

does a paticular pressure make the whole RODI system more efficient? MY pressure gauge says 59 PSI. I thought I heard someone once say 60 to 80 PSI makes the system run better?

higher the pressure the better. IMO 59 PSI is the minimum. I have my pressure pump set @ 100 psi. Spectrapure advises not to go over 70 psi. I have had my pressure high for about 5 yrs with no issues with leaks

I get lower TDS levels and about 160 gpd out of a 90 gpd membrane

inline TDS meters are inaccurate, rely on you hand held and calibrate it on a regular basis

you probably have the 10-17 tds levels

Crabbydan

What membrane do you have and how long have you had it?

Its also a good idea to flush the membrane before and after each use

I get a 99% rejection rate with a Spectrapure Select membrane running @ 100psi

Not sure if they are "inaccurate", but could possibly be broken. I've never had problem with any inline tds meters being off that much. I do often test my water with a hand held to make sure they are working properly.

With that said, your correct, calibrating a hand held meter is a better bet. I know some meter are more precise than the inline ones.

I bought the BRS unit in may 2014. Had issues with TDS in 2016 replaced both membranes in July of 2016 so the original membranes lasted 2 years. Membranes are DOW 75GPD sold on BRS. My unit has 2 of them. It's now only less than 1 year and I'm having issues. Replacing water softner this weekend should make a huge difference. Just wondering if I should get a booster pump for RO pressure to increase it from 59PSI?

I would replace your membranes with Spectrapure Select membranes and get a booster pump

One thing is Spectrapure specializes in water filtration and sell the best membranes IMO

If you do get a booster pump plumb it between the carbon filter and the membrane the prefilters will protect the booster pump from and particles in the water that might otherwise damage the booster pump

Plus, you get to buy from a local company with great customer service and absolutely top quality products. Nearly the same price as BRS to boot.

My water is awful and I don't want to go buy water from a LFS. Ok ordered off of amazon as I had like 20 dollars credit. Bought 2 of the 59 dollar SpectraSelect Plus 90-GPD RO 99 Percent Rejection Membrane - MEM-SP-0090. Will look at getting a booster pump next month. Also I installed my new water softner yesterday which should solve at least 50 percent of my issues.

The system I have has a flush kit. I only use it when I change membranes. Sounds like an occasional flush is a good thing?
