Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone can identify what these 2 polyps are that are mixed in with my zoa's.

Thanks

its a very invasive palythoa, i think some people are calling them camo paly's, they grow like weeds and i'd suggest joes juicing them.

yep they will jump from around in your tank. you may have them in one part of the tank, but later on you will have them at the furthest point from that zoa. they grow super fast and they will cover mostly anything. It covered my ponape birdsnest :(

I have 3 of these that came in on a rock with some greenbay packer zoas and some radioactive dragin eyes. they sort of look like larger bleached out zoas but have tiny green mouths. The 3 I have dont seem to bother anything else and havent shown up anywhere else in the tank.

Those are a form of button polyp. Much prettier than the average brown w/ green center, but just as invasive.

Same as the camo paly, but instead of beeing an ugly green/light brown (much uglier than the average button polyp) they are light blue, and can be light greenish under lower lighting, or when they are shadded by a large colony of them. I have always been a fan, but not in a small tank, where they can become problematic.

They are commonly called "texas trash" where I am from.

Agreed on the post about spreading throughout the tank. These are one of the types of palys that tend to detatch from rocks, in small groups/individual polyps, and re-atatch in other locations of the tank, and can possibly become a pain in the but, as far as taking over other corals/polyps/realestate.

By far though-

One of the prettier "button polyps" out there. If you are looking to fill out an established softie tank- these will definitly do the trick! (and wont be dull/ugly at the same time)

Hey Guacamole, a couple years ago ihad a beautiful colony of zoa's that were very similar to yours and had a couple of those paly's you pointed out. My zoa's eventually melted away. Don't ask me why but after they did the paly's really took over. here are some pics

Yup invasive unless of course, you like them. I have some on a rock with Alphas and Omegas and they look ok. My clownfish seem to like them.
