What's in your sump?

Mine, 3 chambers. First chamber is my drain from tank into a filter sock, with my skimmer. Second chamber live rock, third a ball of chaeto.

Interested to see what everyone else is running

First chamber for me also holds my heater. My second and third are only separated by a 4 inch tall baffle and some egg crate but it holds live rock, chaeto, my return pump, ato, and a small koralia powerhead.

I'm only running 2 chambers first also has sock and skimmer, second houses a wave baffle which is open at the bottom my return and reactor pumps also have a wp40 to circulate everything

First Chamber - 2- 25 micron filter socks, baffle into second chamber - JNS SK2 Skimmer, 1.5L Zeovit Reactor and passive carbon bag, baffled into final where ATO dumps and return pump draws.

I just redid my sump, went from a standard 30 gallon to a 33 gallon, the longer sump is so nice

Mine is very simple filter socks and skimmer is first chamber. Then a bubble trap, and return section. The return secton does have a bio media block in it too. I will try and find a pic

I have two tanks running (75g and 60g) with similar sump setups.

• 75g (48L x 18D x 21H) w/ HOB CPR overflow and 30g sump (36L x 12D x 16H)

Three sections...left to right

1: drain from tank with skimmer; no sock
2: refugium with heater, LR and Chaeto
3: return with GFO reactor and ATO sensor

There's a bubble-trap between 2 & 3

• 60g (48L x 24D x 12H) with BA overflow and 33g sump (36L x 18D x 12H)

Three sections...left to right

1: Primary & Secondary drain from tank with skimmer; no sock
2: Emergency drain and refugium with heater, LR and Chaeto; small PH to churn Chaeto
3: Return

Again, there's a bubble-trap between 2 & 3

Mine is filter sock, skimmer and reactor in chamber 1 and small live rock, bag of Purigen and return pump.

Sump is 48 x 22 x 18 and only 2 sections.
Section 1 is the drain/skimmer section. It's also full of LR. My dual tlf reactors drain into here.

Bubble trap then to
Section 2: return section which is 8" and has 1 huge piece of lr. Also has a small pump which feeds the tlf reactors with carbon and gfo

Been running it for over a year. All I can say is I have never had po4 or no3 detectable in my system how else can u measure it's usefullyness?

Just wondering because i've got a section of my sump with live rock in it, and i'd rather be using a bio block instead. I think I might have to purchase one. Do you have the 8x4x4 block?

I would recommend it over rock rubble any day. Cleaner and more surface area but buy it direct not from BRS it's half the price :)

I'm interested in that bio block Roger!

I currently have a wet/dry sump, its what my dad had and I'm taking care of his tank so I have to deal with it, its really hard to get to the bioballs and everything..Thinking about cutting the sump so I can access it more easily, theres 3 chambers though.

1. Filter pads above Bio Balls
2. Bio Balls
3. Sponge, Skimmer, Return

Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link but I would add the bio media block then after a month remove half the bio balls. The following month remove the last half of the bio balls. U want the 8x8x4 block it has higher nitrate removal then the 8x8x1 plate

I do not have any chambers, just a 20L where my sock filter, GFO reactor, carbon bag, protein skimmer and return pump are located.
