What's killing my LPS?

Glad you found the cause. Water pram's can cause this. In some cases when a coral shows stress, a predator is the cause. I've seen this happen when there was a Euclid worm or crab was having a feast. They would start at one end of an LPS coral and finish at the other end.

Ivermectin is often used to treat heartworm in dogs.

I work in the veterinary field. Ivermectin can be used to PREVENT heartworm, but not treat it. Interceptor is a better HWP because it is a quicker kill and alsodeworms roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. You need an arsenic based medication to treat heartworm. But I digress. So, does ivermectin just not kill the arthropods and red bugs? I'm curious as to what sort of dosage you use for interceptor. Do you know it just to sate my curiosity?

Thanks for the prevent v. treat clarification on the Ivermectin. As I recall from my Interceptor treatments, one large pill (23mg milbemycin oxime) treats 390 gallons.

Not a problem! As I was writing that I was thinking "Is this coming off as if I'm talking down to him?" I'm glad iyou didn't take it that way. And thank you for the information. I'm a nut for completely random information like that. Anything else veterinary wise you have questions about let me know.

You are also welcome. I find it best to reply politely when the other poster is correct. ;)

For the record, I have a biological background. My parents were both doctors (one still is). I entered college premed and graduated a joint biology / psychology major. I've done brain surgery on rats and subsequent microscopic analysis of the affected pathways. I've also extracted dna from bacteria producing proteins marked with slightly radioactive amino acids. I've used Ivermectin as a preventative treatment for heartworm in my dogs and Interceptor for redbugs on my corals.

I appreciate your offer to answer future questions. Thank you.
