im no clam expert but a clam will have some setteling time, esp if it was shipped, but my crocea opened up very nice on the second day, and is looking amazing. PM is where the mantle is retracted in the clam and the clam is generally closed or almost closed, to where you cant see the in or out syphons. Here is a pretty good pic of PM.

I work at a LFS and im trying to save a clam we have the mantle is curling back inside of the clam shell only about 2" of the mantle is open like it should what is the best thing i can do to help it?

i cured 11 of my clams with this treatment(lost 7 beforei did this)

if you can remove the clam to a QT with great lighting, do it.

then get a reactor, canister filter or even a 2"pvc pipe, anything large enough to put at least 1L of carbon per 100gal(the more carbon the better)the water has to be pumped through the carbon at least once per hour total system gal, a bag full of carbon thrown in the sump or tank isnt going to work.

then give the clam a 20 min FWD to kill off as many protozoan as you can to start.

Well the shop runs carbon all the time and he came in with it. Also im limited to what i can do with the clam. Since they run carbon do you think the fresh water dip will help?

a FWD may help but if they already run carbon and its not removing whatever is exciting the protozoan it will most likely return.

how much do the run?

how do they run it?

what do they add to there tanks(trace elements, iron)?

do they run any iron based PO4 removers

Well a ehime at work killed all the fish and the clam monday night so its not some thing i can help now. Some how the pump burned up and released some thing in the water and killed every thing.

FWD's for clams is a last resort. it is very stressful and can kill the clam
