Whats Size Stream?

gooberz

The Specialist :)
I just got a new cube tank that measures 30x30x20 and wanted to know what stream would work great in this size tank.. Thanks for your responses in advance..

Cheers,
Henry :p

I would normally not advise Streams in such a small tank. One 6000 aimed diaganolly across the tank may work. I would be more inclined to use a couple 7300/2. I would only use the 6000 if you were just keeping SPS.

Thank you for your responses!

Roger, My tank is all SPS but if you think its too strong I will take your advice! Are 7300 powerheads?

Yes, but not in the traditional sense. The outlets are twice the normal size at 1". The pumps pulse and can be controlled just like the 6000 Stream. A Stream 6000 would make a jet that is 2 by 2 by 4 and a 7300/2 would make a jet that is about 5ft long but 6" in diameter. In a small cube tank it basically creates a swirling motion and most all of the water gets moving. If it is all SPS though a 6000 Stream should work fine.

sorry for highjack gooberz but i have a 55g 48X13X20 and was wondering how many of those streams would be good. plan on keeping sps with xperience in future

Streams don't make a lot of sense on a 55, it is two narrow and the flow jet is twice the width of the tank, meaning much of it channels down and excavates the sand. It could be done buty I am not going to recommend it. You might read melev's product review on the 7300/2 since he uses it in a 55 and it pretty much covers the tank.
