Short of pulling the rock and trying to discern which is which out of water and usnig a razor blade... is there another way to remove zoas that have invaded another colony? I have some of those yellow long skirt ones I want off the colony they moved onto and I have some teal green palys that are taking over everything.

Thanks!

You can use a syringe and inject them with kalkwasser or Joe's Juice... Kind of like getting rid of unwanted Aiptasia... Though it might be difficult if you have a lot of them...

I would say no there is no other way to remove some zoas and not the others. You don't want anything that eats zoas in your tank since your planning on keeping some zoas. I might be wrong hopefully someone else chimes in. Do you have any pics of the ones you are trying to get rid of?

I tried "feeding" them some joes juice, they closed up for a couple days but came back LOL maybe injecting would work better.

the main ones are those yellow colonial polyps (don't have a photo right now but they are for sale on live aquaria)... they are neat looking if contained but can spead quickly and take over a rock as they do sting I believe. The others are just boring teal greenish palys, they are pretty contained to one rock though so I think I'll just remove it and razor blade the few that got away LOL nothing wrong with them but they are taking up to much realestate in my 24g that I'd rather have filled with more colorful zoas.

Yellow polyps are easy to remove. I just use a small pick and a pair of tweezers and remove them. You can usually get the pick underneath and loosen and then pull a small group at a time. Zoas aren't too hard to remove either, but sometimes you need to remove a bit of the rock underneath them. Here is some before and after shots of one of my colonies.
