Hi

I have kept reefs for years from softies to lps to full SPS but one thing i have never attempted to keep is an anemone, but after seeing dozens of inspiring pics showing stunning clowns and nems togther ive decided to use my 24 gallon nanocube as a clown and nem only tank and i was wondering what anemone is best for someone like me new to keeping them???

Thanks

Elliott

Just to expand on this thread instead of making my own, do you think 130w PC in a 20" tall tank would be enough light for a BTA?

Also, would you suggest adding a BTA before corals just so it can decide where to go and you can build around it?

Not getting one (dont even have rocks yet) but just doing some looking around because down the road things change :)

Ive always said anemones do better under PC's than they do under MH's..So lighting wouldnt be a problem for you.

As adding one before coral...that "rule" has no validation since anemones will move wherever they want to be. In some cases they dont move at all, and stay put for LONG periods of time if they like the conditions (enough flow and lighting)..but that's no guarantee..they will go wherever they find the best conditions.

Yup, reasonable enough. Safer bet to for me to see if I can handle corals before an anemone any how :)

Thanks for the advice all the same.

Elliott -- I would disagree that 72w of T-5 is inadequate for a BTA in a 24g cube. I believe that you will have plenty of light. If you feed your anemone well it will almost certainly outgrow the 24 in the long run and I'm sure you're aware of the difficulty in keeping the water quality up with such a small volume of water. Also, how long has the tank been setup? A mature tank is a big advangtage in trying to keep anemones alive.

Raibaru -- 130 watts of PC may be enough, it really depends on how it is concentrated at the top of the tank. I understand the tank is 20" tall but how big is it and how are the lights arranged? I'm sure you understand that if you have 1 linear bulb covering a 100g tank you won't have enough light but if you have 130w over a 29g tank you should have little trouble.
