Whats this never seen before tissue thats potruding from my Hammer?

My hammer seems healthy so no worries here, but im curious as to what the hell this is as ive never seen it before.

ohh i knew about splitting and spawning, but they can also do this? Well whatever it is/was, its gone now. Probably retracted back into the head. I will keep posting here if it comes back again and grows into something!
