every black friday there's a sale across the globe, and ecotech sometimes jumps in. i was planning a second build and going to use ecotech stuff exclusively and make a major order but everyone i talk to sais that they're not joining in this year..... i hope they change their mind and jump in at the last second. i was looking forward to the price break so i can buy like 5 grand worth of stuff from them but i might have to go with a different brand so i can actually afford it.

Thats their decision..
They've got people "hooked" though and a sale just means less profit :)
Many companies that follow a "MAP" pricing structure don't do sales ever..

I'm going to wait. Or if they're not going to go on sale i might have to go with something else

LOL Ryan on BRS TV just said Ecotech and AI sale on Friday is NOT happening. Better luck next time folks. Guess the people are buying Radions in droves with all of that rabid G4 hype.

Kinda off subject but you do know that the whole black Friday is a way for companies to lower inventory on items not selling or over warehoused . If they do not sell it they have to pay taxes on it in most states.

When we owned a retail business we would build out our hardware into systems and dump them on e-bay for cost... Sometimes you just have to buy more then you can sell of some items to get a Cost you can make a profit on..

Also i agree with said above. they may think they are the In demand company and decided to just keep there profits stable .

Feels like I read these same posts last year lol. If you make a product tons of people pay full price for, why discount it?

I was thinking the same thing about them releasing a new lens for the g3 for a upgrade? Why do that. Eventually they will upgrade in a generation or 2.

So you were at the show? Was kind of hoping you would introduce yourself.

They do it to support the LFS. You can go to amazon and buy one or drive down the street and buy one for the same price.

Everyone likes a sale now and then though so I completely feel your pain. If I was about to spend that much on one companies stuff I would go into a store and ask for a package deal.

This is the correct answer. MAP pricing is minimum advertised pricing. There is no reason why a retailer cannot give you a package deal for a better price if they wish to.

Well to be fair he also said Kessil isn't doing a sale either but drfosters doesn't care as their coupons always work on Kessil. Got a nice 25% off this past weekend on some A80s. So at least if you want Kessil jut wait for the drfosters coupon on Friday.

This is a good point. I buy my Ecotech stuff from my LFS for this reason.

My LFS doesn't offer preferred reefer points on MAP or anything for that matter. 5% back on a several hundred dollar purchase adds up. Makes it hard for the LFS to compete. The frst post the guy is talking about dropping 5k. Thats $250 back which can go a long way.

If you are seriously looking at spending that kind of money, I am sure one of the reputable forum sponsors would work with you on special pricing. You never know what you get unless you ask and you might just be surprised. If I were looking to spend that kind of money, I'd be calling Luke at Premium Aquatics or Scott at Aquarium Specialty first. BRS is also somebody that would be on my short list too.

cash is king...there are plenty of store owners that will make a deal.
