What's up with the selections

Ok, is it just me, or has the selection of fish at the LFS's around here not been very "bountiful" lately?

Has the summer months been really hard on collection at the points of origin or something?

This thread is not designed to enrage or flame anyone. I am genuinely curious about this matter.

This is generally the slower time of year, so the availability at most wholesalers is limited. Most people (unlike us nuts) spend their summers outdoors playing sports or taking care of the kids, not looking at their reefs. The winter season always has more diversity than the summer as far as catch goes.

I noticed that as well. They said that things were hard to get right now, but not why. I asked for pepermint shrimp and was told that they were not very available nor were big turbo's. Maybe they are out of season??

I wanted pepp shrimp a month or so back and was told they weren't ordering much due to the hot summer months. They waited til it cooled off some to ease the stress of shipping.

It's always like that... I also notice the I and WE alway seem to comeout of the summer fasting early, while the stores wait and lag. Not that I've been terribly impressed with much locally for awhile anyway. There something about seeing the same overpriced stuff over and over and....

Besides if Fred would just work his fingers to the bone a little faster, we can all shop at his house. Hurry up Fred.

Who will volunteer to draw up a schedule for each of us to know when to go over to Fred's house and crack the whip on him?

Aren't there people in the valley who can be paid small amounts to crack whips? Or maybe some kind of club? I've heard stories.
