From ground level to your plywood deck where the bottom of the tank is flush with plywood?

What's too high? I want plenty high to work, but not so high it looks stupid.

this is a tank i bought off ebay last week, got a insanely good deal on it but the top of the tank sits at 5foot 4 inch which is a little too high for my liking (im 6 foot) i just need to get a little stool when i work in it.
so to the bottom of the plywood is 1100mm high

yeah, i didn't think about working up top...i was thinkin' about workin' in the sump.

but it's just as important to be able to work up top too...a stool would suck.

36 in high stand - plenty of room under to work on sump. I DO have to use a step stool / small ladder for access to top of tank for weekly cleaning.

I personally can't stand bending over every time I want to look at my tank. My 220 is on a 36" stand. The top of the tank is 5' 5" off the floor which is rough considering I'm only 5' 9", but its nothing a step stool doesn't take care of!

Mine is 30.5 and a wish it was a little higher. Its hard to get the top off my skimmer. I wish I would of bought my skimmer before I built the stand so I could of made it a little taller. Well live and learn.

38.5". I am 5'9". I would never go short again.

I think it really depends on where you are meant to view from. If it is from a bed, chair or couch, then shorter is probably better, but for standing 36-42 is very nice.

Mine is 40-something inches high. The top of my 40 breeder is just below eye level and I'm almost 6'. I'd guess the tank top is 5'8" off the ground. I can reach the sand near the front, but I keep a 6" step stool in the stand and it makes working in the tank cake. now there's no more bending over to look at the tank. I'll never go short again either.

I am jealous of all you that have taller stands! Mine barely has enough room to pull the protein skimmer cup off. it's one of those pine stands that usually come with tanks. Next tank will have a custom built stand for sure!
