whats wrong with my clown?

just got 2 true percs. they have been in my tank for about 5 days and for the first couple they would nibble on food. one of them went and tried to host my hammer coral. now he sits in the corner of the tank and swims up and down like hes sleeping. occasionally he will swim around a little but than he goes back. i dont see any white spots except i think a little bit of his gill got cut and some of his fins are a little cut also. it seems like he has scars also because there are what seems to be lines of discoloration around his face just like that one fish with all the scars in finding nemo just not as bad. he has not eaten anything is the past 24 hours but at least he stopped going near the hammer coral. the other one also is a little beat up but he seems to be doing better and is also nibbling on food. i cant get pictures that can get close enough to see whats wrong with them. is this normal clown behavior for the first week? how long can a small perc go without eating?

when you bought them did they come from the same tank? and what else do you have in your tank. and the clowns going in the hammer frogspwan tourch is not uncommon mine did that until I added harry shrooms instead of a anemoe Spell <== checker needed.... if the clown came from different tanks that could be one of the problems as it is getting bullied. I would tund the lights off and rearrange the other clowns home a little and see what happens from there or place the other in a different tank. ......

based on that is if I am reading your post correctly

they are around 8 months old. they both stay there seperate ways and they act like niether of them are there. i have a starry blenny and a chromis in the tank. i bought them seperate. arent they to young to start fighting? and i never see them fight only a occasional nibble at each other when together for to long. they dont seem to have a home yet because they sleep in a new spot each night. i have an anemone but they are to stupid to venture to the other side of the tank xD

it may be a dominance thing as they get older the female may be showing the male showing is boss..... about how long are they ? 1 inch 2 inches?
and sorry It was not clear.. to me if you bought them at the same time or different times the clowns and if they were from the same tank at the lfs? as for the feeding do you have live Brine shrimp avail. in your area @ a lfs...

i just added to more to my tank yesterday well my other tank both hate each other from a friends house but seem to get along great in the new tank. Then again it is only less then 24 hrs tomorrow. I have to buy them a home to sleep in.
And I know what you mean by too stupid to go to the anemone i bought a couple bubble tips for mine not doing reasearch first to find that the like to hide for a little while after all came out. and me thinking they were dead the anemones that is the clowns stayed with the frog spawn and the mushrooms. but thats a different story.

i got it from a website so idk if they where in the same tank. they came in seperate bags but i tested each bag and they where the same so i put them in the same bag for acclimation. they are not even an inch. the one that stayed reclusive is now out more and is now chillin by my hammer again lol

just tried to feed them. neither of them ate anything but one tried a little to look. The one that looks really bad didnt even noitce the food and is just swimming in the same spot. I think there is something wrong with him because his poop is white and stringy and its like clinging to him.

Stress. Give them time to acclimate to your tank. Often fish won't feed for many days because they are just stressed.

Same thing happened with my Picasso's. It took them 2 days befor they'd touch a pellet. I just got them to nibble on Rod's frozen. I suspect another week and they'll be eating fine.

Again, nothing in this hobby happens fast. You don't seem to understand that.

When you buy livestock online you take the risk of not knowing where these fish are coming from. These fish, from what you say, seem very small, if that is the case they may have been taken straight from the ocean, as juveniles, and being shipped in bag and box to your door step can be very fatal to even the healthiest, mature, fish. Even corals have a hard time being shipped. As mentioned above try feeding them live brine and see how they react. From my experience if a fish does not eat for a few days it doesn't usually end happily. Go luck!! And my advice...don't order livestock online. Ask your lfs if they can order what you need, less stress during travel.

Brine shrimp are used as treats. They are in no way nutritious, unless added to a frozen "mix" of foods, like mysis, clam, brine shrimp, nori, etc.

Feeding pellet is the easiest way to feed them. If they aren't eating pellet, try again every other day for a few days. If they're not eating, try a frozen mix.

i feed them mysis and pellets. they eat neither of it. they are wild from singapore and i got them from liveaquaria wich i trust.

So what does a mad clown look like? Any pictures?

My fishes face doesn't move. Its neither happy or sad. Nor hungry nor full.

If there poop is white and srtingy you need to get him to a quarintine and treat with something like Prazipro. He has worms which would lead him to not eat and just be unhappy in general.

fo future reference always buy tank raised clowns alot less problems and if you want 2 just spend the little extra cash and get a maeted pair, or 2 from the same tank so they are atleast aware of each other clowns from different tanks can and most times do get along but it is a risk depending on size. I agree with hansonfam quarintine both and treat both. in a small 10 gal tank with a spoonge filter and air stone. for a few days you can do a water change and use that water to add to the 10 gal not fresh as it will stress out even more.

is wurms contagous?(spell check) and does a QT need light? i got them as juveniles so i wouldnt think they would fight and i really havent seen them fight.

good news! i fed than mysis today and the one that looked beat up ate a real big chunk and nibbled at some other pieces! At least one is doing well! Im trying to order a small 10 gallon tank for a QT but i dont think the other clown will make it by the time i get the tank. He is doing very porly and hasnt eaten anything and just stares at a rock. I talked to liveaquaria and they said they will replace it if it dies even if the warranty ends. That is why i trust their website.

a couple of questions for it. can i put the prazipro in the freshwater dip? how do i match the pH? instead of an airstone, can i blow bubbles in it with a straw?
