could have scratched its eye on the rocks or something like that.. that is a lot of fish for a 12gal. tank.. i wouldnt keep a pair of maroons in a tank that small, they are going to become very aggressive, and the biolaod of that many fish is going to be a lot on a tank that size..

It's in a 12g tank, thats whats wrong. Its probably stressed out and if not, it will be soon after it figures out it can only swim 5 inches horizontally until it has to turn around. Not trying to be mean, but you cant put two fish of that size in a tank that small. Try to ask questions and do some research before making immature decisions like that. Try maybe a pair of small Ocellaris clowns but that will be all you could have as far as fish go.

You're gonna have to do something with all the fish (take them back to the store and get some credit). 5 fish in 12 gallons of water? This isn't freshwater, saltwater fish require a lot more room. Like I said, get on here and ask questions, and go ahead and take those fish back before they die of stress or the momma Maroon eats them.

If the white over the eye is like a white film, it probably has Brook. You can get some really good tips on how to cure this disease in the FISH DISEASE TREATMENT forum. Just be sure to stay up to date on water changes due to the amount of POOPLOAD in your tank.

Good Luck

Sam

oooh, that is no pair that is 2 fish you just bought together. If it heals itself one will eventually kill the other to establish dominance. all other fish in the tank will soon follow. I would remove both ASAP
