Whats your flow rate?

Im setting up a 280 and wanted to see how much turnover everyone is running. Im thinking 30-40x's

It really depends on what pumps your using and your aquascape. I personally like to see some polyp movement on the coral. 20-30x range sounds low but maybe it will work for you.

Plan for more turnover and you can always dial it down, BUT you can't turn it up if you don't have enough in the first place!! Already made that mistake!

120gal
two vortech mp40 ES in tidal swell mode
~700gph return

puts me at about 60x volume when both pumps are running max, about 40x at the lowest.

my aquascape is pillar style, I wouldnt say completely minimal but the tank is mostly open space.

I have a 130 gallon sps dominated reef 150 # LR approximately with good spacing between. Running a sequence 4600 and two mp40's . I have return tuned back a bit but have the option to increase flow as needed. I couldnt agree more with the plan for more as you can always turn it down not up. good luck

I'm going with a closed loop system and my plan for that pump is a dolphin aqua sea 7900 and my return pump for the filters will be a dart. I am estimating my total flow to be around 8000 gph.

I have a tank at 400 gals and use a choked hammerhead for return most likely about 4000 gph and 2 dart pumps about 4000 each attached to ocean motion 4 ways for closed loop. It was not enough. I added 2 3000 gph powerheads. It could still be a bit more. If I were you a may just consider using 2 large vortex pumps. I think they make a 7000 gph, it is really a lot less plumbing and possible leaks. If you want to look at my tank email me eralff@comcast.net, I live in Newtown pa about 1 hr from you.

How did you get the darts up to 4k gph. When they are rated @ 3600 gph with zero head?

Frag boxs

Frag boxs

I have a 150 gal display that had two eshopps fragtrays in it and 4 large power heads, well between the snails and the power heads the frags on plugs (sps corals) were getting knocked around pretty good. So I plumbed
up two 4foot acrylic trays that are divided into about 5x5 sections. Only problem is that I have the flow up as high as the drain (1" bulkheads) will allow. Which is probably about 2-3 gallons per minute. But based on the surface tension I don't think it's enough.

Is it enough?
Do I need to replumb it?

140g display.
-2x Tunze 6055 on multicontroller 260-1450gph
-2x Vortech MP40W 3200gph max
-1x OM 4way ReeFlo Snapper Gold cl 2600gph
-1x Tunze wavebox. Moves the whole tank every few seconds.
-1x Iwaki MD40RLT 750gph@4'

Comes out to about 90x turnover max flow not counting the wavebox. The closed loop is controlled by a wave timer on my RKL and the wave box is daytime only using photocell.

180 Gallon.
4 x MP40s, long pulse, full blast non synched.
2 x 3/4 in. sea swirls on the returns pushing about 1200 gph total.
4 x Modded Tunze Nano 6025
2 x 6055
1 x modded 6045.

Needless to say, bare bottom. Very chaotic, with tunzes blasting into the mp40 streams and the sea swirl breaking things up.

Wow that is a ton of flow!

On my 210 I am running about 13000 gph total via mp40's, couple koralia 4's, and the return. So about 60x.
