Whats your flow rate?

Hey Steve,

Tunze 7095 controller

Tom

thanks tom. I am pretty sure I am going to go with 2 x 6205 and 2 x 6105 on my 280 that I am setting up. I currently have an apex controller so I am trying to figure out what things the apex cant do that the tunze controllers can do.

I just took some flow out of my tank. I was running in a 65 gallon (3x2x18) 2 Modded 6025s (which pack a serious punch.) Mp40, an Mp10, and an ehiem 1262 for the return.

So..approx a max of

900 for the return.
3,000 for the Mp40
1575 for the mp10
and between 1000-1200 per modded tunze (is what I understand it should get)

soo.. 118 turn over for me

Either way I pulled 1 tunzee, and I'm thinking of pulling the second I've been running them as things sit for 6 months or so now, I'm starting to think I really don't need more then the mp10, mp40 and return, but I like the good coverage of all 4 pumps.

I am running this on my 92 gallon corner mainly sps:

4 Koralia 750 GPH
1 Koralia 1400 GPH
2 Maxi Jet 1200 GPH
Mag Drive 9.5 for the Return
= About 83 x Turnover

How did you get the darts up to 4k gph. When they are rated @ 3600 gph with zero head?

Steve

He said hammerheads on OM 4 ways. Not darts.

I have a 48x30x24

Im running:

2xmp40
2x tunze 6045
Iwaki 20 return

There's great advantages of the electronic pumps for sps. Many people choose them these days.

not that it really matters but please go back read his post....

I have a tank at 400 gals and use a choked hammerhead for return most likely about 4000 gph and 2 dart pumps about 4000 each attached to ocean motion 4 ways for closed loop

I think circulation should be very hi in the tank alone, and I have always tried to toggle my actual turnover with my return pump to match my skimmers gph. It just makes sense to me. Why turn over more water then the skimmer can handle.

I am pretty much set on my return pump which will give me about 5-7 times turn over. my main concern is current inside the tank. I am either going to go with 4 x tunze 6205s or 2 x 6105 and 2 x 6205. If I go with the 6205's I should be able to produce a max of 100x turnover and then dial it back from there if need be.

I think that will be the way to go! I wasnt picking but some people want there return pump to do all the work when really you need flow in the tank. That sounds like a solid setup my brother has a 150 rimless with 3 mp60s you can never have enough flow and the fish and coral I think prefer it lol.

I had thought about going with mp60's but I dont want to mount anything on the ends of the tank because it will be in the reach of my kids and I like the tunze because you can change adjust the direction they are pointed. Now I just need to figure out what substrate to put on the bottome of the tank that wont get blown around.
