Whats your lighting setup?

I have 2 175w MH and 2 96w VHO over my 120 (48x24x24)

The tank is dominatly LPS with there being all kinds of lps corals placed at different heights in the tank. Everything is very healthy and I have not had any of my corals bleach.

To anyone running 175 halides,

How much heat do you get compared to a 250w, I only have experiance with 250w halides (had 2 on an sps) and my tank wouldnt go lower then 82 degress even with the help of 4 fans

on my 125 I have 4 40W 6500K wats and 2 110W actinics, everything is run by 2 icecaps 660. here is my list of stuff :) acan lords, goni, fox coral, plate, candy cane, lots of xenia, leather, zoos, ricordia. digitata, orange cap, purple tip acro, bird nest, crocea clam, maxima clam, derasa clam, gigas clam. star polyps, frogspawn, hammer, hydropora (spelling), cup coral that's all I can think for now :)

The coloration has exploded on my zoos since going halide as well, just to add that. I know they arent LPS but something to consider.

Just to keep in mind there are so many different types/colors of zoanthids out there that what works for the zoanthids in your tank doesn't mean it will for all. Also keep in mind, some of the color explosion may not be an actual change in color of the coral itself but mere flouresce back certain colors based on the light spectrum thus giving the appearance to the human eyes.

I know of several zoanthids in my tank that are more colorful with less light vs. more light so it is not an absolute.

Same can be said for just about every other coral species/genus out there.

There is no perfect lighting for all corals. There is give and take with any setup.

This is why I really try to stay away from lighting topics.

Obviously there are a lot of set ups that will work :)

Usually more light is better. Most of my zoos look MUCH better under my T5's than in my PC lit quarnatine tank.

Tank is almost all LPS (35 years old) 300 watts MH and 80 watts PC actinic. Works for me.
