What's your most trusted lFS for fish?

Recently lost all my stock to ich and or marine velvet. Quarantine is not an option for me at the moment what lFS do you most trust for fish?

I have done well at saltwater junkies and fins and friends. I do quarantine, but I don't treat unless I see something during the quarantine period. With both of those shops I haven't had any issues during the quarantine period.

Quarantine is a must. If not you risk ich and other bad things. I have worked in the fish industry and no one quarantines for 4 weeks.

That said I always quarantine tangs and ich sinistive fish while I have added many Angel, foxface, blenny, and goby with minimal risk.

I will say that fish from quarantine do so much better than when they go straight into the display.

I will not say anything bad about any of the fish stores mentioned above but I was buying my fish from only one source and on a whim purchased a tang that the store had for supposedly 3 months without any issues.

What could go wrong right?

It wiped out half my display. Ive been fighting disease for weeks now trying to save fish and coral which is impossible and I pretty much had to nuke my tank and start over.

Do not trust anyone. People kept telling me and I thought I was being careful. I was not doing quarantine but going forward, there will not be a single fish that goes into my 800 gallon display without quarantine. Just don't do it. Its not worth the heartache as you see your prized fish drop dead one after another.

Ive been to all the stores above and while Im sure they are fine establishments, I do not trust any of them.

Quarantine or be sorry.

If you have a 50 gallon display, getting a fish out is no big deal. Getting the sick fish out of my 800 gallon display was impossible.

Lesson learned the hard way.

I just lost an entire order to uronema. Take a second and look into that. It will scare anyone into qt.
Not to be harsh, but I just don't buy into the whole "I can't qt". I got a 40 breeder off cl for 20 bucks and 2 five gallon buckets for ttm. Heck yeah it's ghetto and looks like trash (they sit on the floor.....) but it protects my investment.
If that uronema would have gotten in my tank.... That's a hobby ender, nothing you CAN do but drink some beer, sit back and watch your tank go.
Pay a buddy in beer who can run qt. I'll take a handle of capt. ;)

Aquarium Arts imports there fish straight from collectors and keeps all there fish system at 1.018 SG. This helps the fish keep the parasites and other nasty stuff at bay.

Every store does this other than the tank systems that have inverts in them. That is why I drop my QY to 1.018 and then slowly bring it up over a couple weeks while I observe the new fish. It has made a world of difference in survival rate as well as less aggression as new comers can fight back and hold ground instead of just run.

QT or have the same results you just experienced. Not trying to be rude but how many times can you play Russian Roulette before you lose? I am a stickler for QT and still got ich in my display tank. Luckily I had my QT set up so I simply removed the fish and treated them, in a few more weeks they go back in the display.

I would not buy nothing from epic oceans to save my life the owner is [personal attack removed]

To go with all the other comments about QT being the only reliable way to prevent disease in the DT, you mention you lost everything to ich *recently*. Unless you have gone fallow for a minimum of 72 days, any healthy fish you put in there will start the ich cycle all over again.

I know this sounds crazy to everyone here but I dont currently have the space for a QT I am already limited in a small apartment and have a jbj 45 as my display. Unless I put a QT on my kitchen counter top i just dont have space. Where do you guys keep your qt tank?

With only a 45 you can stalk it all one go, lol.

I was using my 29 gal bio cube for QT, but will be doing a 40 gal breeder setup in my new house later this year.

What fish are you wanting to keep?

Stocking list isnt in stone but something like...

flame angel

1-3 blue chromis

pair of clowns

Lawnmower blenny

Fire fish

coral banded shrimp

1-2 misc fish.

Then what brought in the Ich? Usually tangs are the big culprits, but not always. All water parameters in check?

Also temp fluctuations can bring on stress and also make the fish more vulnerable to ich.

I deal with Aquariums Arts, Epic Ocean's, and the Pet Shop

Aquarium arts for fish! Epic oceans and reef monsters for coral! Reef monsters is my go to store and my favorite and cleanest. Pet shop I would never put anything from there store in my tank. Other then there RO water which I still don't use theirs unless I have to.
