What's your 'must have' fish?

My possum wrasse ! Very colorful, lots of personality, and has given me many hours of enjoyment sitting in front of my tank. He is a bit shy with other boisterous fish and best kept where tankmates are pretty docile.:)

must have

must have

The one fish that I have come to prefer above all others is the Spotted Drum, Equetus punctatus. A combination of things, including its unique appearance, beauty, and winning personality(after it gets to know you) make it tops in my book. I've had a few over the past decades. I caught the one I have now last year. It's just now reaching its truly spectacular adult pattern, at about 8 inches. A demanding fish, delicate at first, but once established, they really glow with vitality and grace.

Moorish Idol for me too. *Sigh*

After that, I love all of the big angels. We are designing a new reef tank specifically for SPS so that we can keep an Emperor in it as well.

Thanks, I know, but if you're familiar with the variability of bicinctus clowns, as well as the misnaming of various clarki complex species as bicinctus (and vice versa), you'd know why I'd never buy these online without WYSIWYG pictures.

Well, with all the years I've been in the hobby I've always loved regal angels and have had a trio in my display for a while now...

Shots of my current display with flash under actinics only...

A shot of my old system taken by a friend...

However, if I could pluck and have any fish out of the ocean, it would have to be a xanthic form yellow/white regal from the Maldives...:)

here is what got me in the hobbie :)

I picked up a pair, one of which was doa; however, they are bicinctus...wild caught specimen's. There is no doubt about it. I am aware of the variations as well.

The one I have left is a very nice looking fish...I'm trying to pair it up with a captive raised ORA specimen.

Too bad one was DOA. I looked through your gallery, but saw no pics (except that beautiful pair in the wild (drool!). Do you have any pics of the survivor?

my 2 dream fish i want are a chrysurus angel and a rosy fin fairy wrasse.
Out of all of the fish i have kept i like my yellow belly tang the most.

Pair of black spotted angels, potters wrasse, Convict tang, and a clam safe blue ring (annularis) angel. Also my Vlamingi, Chevron, and Achilles tang.

a trio of peppermint angels and the bank account to buy them:)

but really, when i can get an achilles tang to get along with my black longnose tang, a pair of regal angels (currently have 1), and a deep water tank with my personatus angel pair, sunrise hogfish, and schoaling ventralis anthias, ill be happy.
