What's your PO4 and How Much GFO Do You Use?

For all that use GFO on a regular basis, I'd like to know...

1. Total gallons of system
2. Current PO4 level
3. How much GFO you use to maintain PO4

Post away! :)

1. Total gallons of system...... 120-130 depending on where I let it be
2. Current PO4 level...... Between .04 and .07
3. How much GFO you use to maintain PO4...... About 1/3 cup of HC GFO, BRD recommends almost a cup, which would remove too much PO4. I change it every 3 weeks or so.

I stopped using it due to color loss in corals. I used 1/2 C on a 120 total gallons switched out every month. My PO4 read around .04 on Hanna meter.

250gallons. 1/2 cup of Rowaphos. 0.02 P04 (red sea pro) .. Note: Tank is bare bottom with very high flow. filter socks changed daily. minimal fish load (3 yellow tangs)

Your forgot to ask about how often it's replaced and how much flow there is through the reactor.

This is a very useful thread. Hope others join in. I had a similar sort of thread which I started last week I think. I am using 45grams of rowaphos which I am replacing weekly because my phosphates were high. Phosphate is currently at 0.03ppm as measured by hanna phosphorous ULR meter.

I'm using aquamaxx(?) and it says to use 1g per gallon I think, so i used 40 grams on my 40 gallon tank, in a tlf gfo reactor, with just enough flow to keep it tumbling, but I think my total volume is 50 or 55 gallons, I might dial it up a bit, because there is a small amt of algae, but no hair algae. I'm just always paranoid about overdosing stuff in my tank.

I'll add that I've only ever tested visible phosphates once at 0.25 with api test kit. Every other time its been undetectable.

Excellent guys, keep them coming! I've been using 1 cup in ~278 gallons. IMO the calculators out there are rated WAY to high as I've seen some issues in my tank running too much at one time. Just want to get a feel for how much others realistically use. :)

120 gallons
1 cup RowaPhos a month
PO4 < .05, API test kit is hard to read and doesn't test low enough. So looking at a hanna checker.
