When clownfish attack

While adding a new piece of rock tonight my Booyahs buckshot clown which is the bigger of the two I have popped me twice tonight. The second time my girlfriend actually jumped because the fish came out of the water to do it. Is this behavior typical when the fish are paired up and have laid eggs? They are different breeds but stay in the same part of my 65 gallon. The bigger of the two is the only one that will usually venture off for a short time.

They are territorial of what they either host or consider home.

The first time I ever saw this happen was at a LFS. It was steadly pecking at the employee trying to get an anemone out of a tank. There were like 30 in there.. but it wanted them all to stay.

I have had my female cinnamon peck at me and brush her tail at me trying to do some aquasculpting or feeding via turkey baster.

I moved my GSP from the sandfloor to an outcrop and almost dropped it because I was not expecting it. Granted it was right in front of her anemone.

My clowns just swim in the back corner of my tank. Every time I get my hand near their little corner I get bit. But if they are off swimming around somewhere else and I get close, they ignore me.

Sounds like typical territorial clown behavior. Yesterday i was scrubbing the coraline algea from the glass and as long as I was on the other side of the tank the one clown I have would leave me alone. but when I went to the other side, next to the mushroom rock it seems to have claimed it would aggressivly attack. Boy do they have a bite on them for little buggers. And not just go after the scraper, would swim up to get my hand. :rolleye1:

I always get bitten by my ocellaris male. He even takes his head out of water to threaten me. Even when my hand is far from his territory he bites if there is a chance. I´m afraid I will hurt it with the blade in future :hmm2:

my ocellaris will eat out of my hand. So when ever I put my hand in the tank she thinks I'm bringing food. She swims around my hand looking for the frozen mysis cube. She will pick, but isn't aggressive about it. My percula just hides. He's a wimp.

My female bites and holds on to my finger for a second when there are eggs present. I got a especially good reminder last night while hand feeding the mysis cube. The male typically just stays in the corner and I have to spot feed him, otherwise he won't come to feed when he is tending a nest.

My occ's are opportunists. When I am not looking out for them, they will ram my hand like no tomorrow. However, if I am looking at them, they stay away or they try to find a way to ram my hand if I do turn away. They aren't so innocent anymore little buggers they are.
